EXTENSIVE ON LINE HELP From within the Help environment, you can enter any subject and the on line help will present you with the information available in the manual on the subject.
ect DATA ANALYSIS SOFTWARE It is possible to set minimum thresholds for per cent wall loss on the I.D., per cent wall loss on the O.D., and a minimum voltage requirement. All indications which fail to meet this minimum requirement will not be presented to the Analyst.
The software works by examining the vertical channel of the mixer, looking for a rate of change that exceeds the threshold setting, which is set in the Analyze Menu. When this threshold is exceeded, the signal is examined to determine whether or not it meets the minimum voltage requirement. If it does not, it is ignored. If it meets the minimum requirement, then a defect determination depth is made in a channel which was selected by the Analyst. A defect depth determination is made. If this depth does not meet the minimum requirements set by the Analyst, then this defect is ignored. If the defect meets these minimum requirements, then the software pauses its analysis and presents the information to the Analyst. If the Analyst agrees, he may save information about the defect to a list of defects on one of the disk drives. This information is saved in a format that can be read by the ect Power Report Software. ect AUTOMAD SOFTWARE At the end of this analysis, the ten deepest defects are presented to the Analyst in a list in the menu. The deepest defect is redrawn. The analysis from four channels and two mixers is also presented to the Analyst. The Analyst then may save information about this defect to the list of defects on a disk drive.
The Analyst may examine any of the ten deepest defects by advancing through this list with the <Tab> key or returning to the deeper defects with the <Shift> and <Tab> keys.
The ect AutoMAD Software also adds the capability to automatically detect and number support plates in real time as the data is being acquired and also during the data analysis function. In this mode, when defect data is saved to the list on disk, information about the distance from the defect encountered to the last support plate encountered, as well as the number of the support plate, is also stored in the defect list file.
With the ect AutoMAD Software, the Analyst may interrogate any portion of the signal that he wishes by pointing to it with the mouse. This signal is then analyzed regardless of whether it is a defect indication, dent, or other signal. Information about the signal is presented in phase angle, volts, and if a defect, then the per cent wall loss is also indicated. This feature is useful for measuring dents, outside deposits, and other anomalous indications. The ect AutoMAD Software has a fully automatic mode, in which the next available file of tube data is recalled from disk, analyzed, and then information about the ten deepest defects is automatically saved to the list of defects on disk. The software then proceeds to analyze the next tube and continues in this manner until all tubes on the disk are analyzed. To achieve accurate results, it is required that the data acquisition function be absolutely perfect.
ect DATA STORAGE SOFTWARE During data acquisition, the software may use Zone, Row, and Tube numbers entered manually by the keyboard or may follow a list of tubes to be inspected on a file on the hard drive. In playback mode, Zone, Row, and Tube numbers may be entered directly from the keyboard, the software can obtain the next tube number from the list of tubes in a file on the hard drive, or the software may search the disk drive to automatically obtain the next available tube on the disk.
By using the Macro String function, it is possible to have single keystroke data acquisition. A Macro String is entered which will acquire the next tube number to be inspected from the list of tubes on disk, begin the record function, and after the entire tube has been inspected, save the data from the tube to the disk drive.
The Macro String capability also provides for single keystroke data recall, playback, and data analysis.
ect POWER REPORT SOFTWARE
Simply press the <?> key and the on line help will provide you with information about the control that you have currently selected for adjustment. The information presented informs you of how to adjust the control, the purpose of the control, and recommended settings.
The ect Data Analysis Software analyzes eddy current data. The ect Data Analysis Software scans the data from the beginning. It automatically identifies and then stops on each defect, analyzing the defect, and presenting the Analyst with the phase angle, voltage, and per cent wall loss. The per cent wall loss is determined by a user definable look-up table.
The ect AutoMAD Software is an option that adds on to the ect Data Analysis Software, and provides for many additional features. The ect AutoMAD Software detects the tube sheet expansion transition zones and analyzes the length of tube between these two points. The ect AutoMAD Software analyzes the entire length of the tube between the expansion zones and tracks the ten deepest defects encountered. This analysis process is carried out at a speed in excess of five meters of tube per second.
During the Record mode, the eddy current data from the tube is acquired and stored in RAM. The ect Data Storage Software is used to transfer this data for permanent storage on one of the computer's drives. This may be any type of DOS drive, but a large internal hard drive or built-in optical disk drive is recommended for storing large amounts of data in a short period of time.
This software is used to draw tube sheet maps. It reads the defect list generated by the ect Data Analysis or ect AutoMAD software and generates color coded tube sheet maps. color coded tube sheet maps. See the separate brochure on the ect Power Report Software for additional information.
